Dear Me > Back To School

School has begun and thank goodness because the whirlwind - "OH MY GOODNESS, school starts on Tuesday and we have a whole bunch of activities to do before then" has exhausted me, and I don't even have kids at home, I'm just the Grandma!  I have to say that I like to involve Mr. Glossy Flossy too, so that he can go to work on Monday exhausted from the weekend.  His chores were:
  • Get Jet Ski unwinterized so we can use it on Monday.
  • Buy new battery for Jet Ski because we apparently need to buy a new one every year.
  • Go to store - twice - for items I needed.
  • Swim, play badminton, play bean bag toss & basketball with 3 boys with boundless energy.
  • Barbecue hamburgers. (Apparently, these kids only eat burgers in the finest of restaurants because they wondered why the onions weren't "grilled."
  • Put up movie screen outdoors.
  • Lug a GIANT projector outdoors. (I need one of those new little projectors instead of my dinosaur - now I see why they call old things dinosaurs, because they are BIG - but I digress)
  • Move loungers in front of movie screen.
  • Get fire pit ready to roast marshmallows.
  • And finally roast marshmallows & sleep through "Mars Needs Moms."(Watch for an upcoming post and photos from our Outdoor Movie Night party!)

I wasn't even this tired when my own kids were small!!!

Frock Me Friday > First Day of School

Every Friday, we here at Chaos & Gloss, are excited to bring you "Frock Me Fridays"! Check us out every Friday for some fun and fabulous looks for the season. Check out our very first one below:

Its almost here ladies.....the moment we've all been waiting for......1st day of school!! Or maybe for some of you lucky ducky's, you've already experienced the wonderful feeling of hearing yourself say, "have a great day at school" and then basking in the sound of.....nothing! No yelling, no tattling, no, "I need a popsicle, drink, band aid, snack, 10 dollars, the fire extinguisher", etc....Just you and the sweet sound of peaceful quiet!
YAY!! (I just did a mental cartwheel! Upper body strength-- I am not known for).

After a summer of entertaining, driving, frantically checking those school supply lists, and ninja fighting off ten other crazed moms over the last pair of size 7 jeans and 1 inch binder left in the city; you deserve a treat too! How about a back to school outfit of your very own? After all, the first day of school drop off is a big moment, and we all know that for the rest of the year we will go back to our standard school morning uniform of pajama bottoms, hoodies, and oversized sunglasses. But today we shine!

Check out this 1st day of school outfit I would love to rock:
back to school
Chamak by Priya Kakkar, Nicole Miller, Juicy Couture
after all the back to school shopping you've done for your kids you deserve a great first day outfit too!

For this outfit I might even get up extra early to actually comb my hair before school.....maybe.

p.s. you can click on the pics if you love the look and it will link you to where you can check them out.

Say Yes To.......

You will be envious when you see what I have.  Check out this side table that I bought at Costco – which just so happens to go quite nicely with my patio furniture.

The real reason I bought this table is because it has another function – a party function!!

Now I’m ready to party!

Things Will Go Wrong > Puppied

I have fantasies of babies. Sweet smelling, chubby, drooly, babies, even though my babies are getting older and my husband can't have no' babies no'more. He is done and I am not; but that does not stop me from having crazy thoughts of becoming miraculously pregnant again (and having a justification for this baby belly I'm still sporting around). Well that was till our family decided to adopt a puppy from a rescue foundation.

She is so cute and snuggly, and we are such suckers. We previously adopted our lab, Gunner, when he was 2 years old. He IS the perfect dog and we all adore him. So what could go wrong this time around? I needed something to cuddle STAT!

Now I am sleep deprived. I have cleaned my carpets more than I have ever cleaned anything before. I am constantly feeding her, cleaning her (she loves to roll in the most disgusting things), and pulling things out of her mouth. I have baby gates up, and I am constantly worried she will escape somewhere, and panic when I don't know where she is at. She has some special needs, she is a nervous pooper, and is constantly hacking things up. She has no manners and thinks everyone is her personal chew toy, food buffet, and salt lick. I am exhausted!

I always cringe when people compare their pets to having children. I mean really?! You really think your crazy cat, Muffin is just like having a child?! Ughh! But ask me if I have any desire for a baby now.

Nope.
None.
Not even one little tiny twinge.

I am open to baby nieces and nephews though, just as long as they don't poop on my living room throw pillows.

Celebrate, Celebrate, Celebrate > Red, White & Blue

Making my plans for Labor Day.  Thinking, thinking, thinking, - I've got nothing - YET.  Check out my 4th of July decorations.  If this was back in the day when I had small children I would probably still have these decorations up - reminds me of the time I still had my Christmas decorations up in February, but that is another story or - "a timesaving tip."

I use my red, white and blue decorations at least three times a year - Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day.  Don't you love the Dollar Tree.  The red lanterns came from Hobby Lobby, a package of three different sizes for $3.99 (clearance) - what a steal deal!  The big striped plates and oblong napkins came from Ikea.  Stay tuned for menu and games.
